Is Pinta Education's ISTQB Foundation course accredited?

Yes. My CTFL v4.0 course is UKITB/ISTQB accredited. The course materials were accredited on first submission with no changes required - I value your time; I will ask you to do homework, because I did mine.

What is your own experience of teaching this course?

The ISTQB Certified Tester Foundation Level (CTFL) has some of its roots in the UK's original ISEB Foundation qualification. I was involved then, starting in 1999. I served on the syllabus and exam-writing committees at the British Computer Society (BCS) too. When the International Software Testing Qualifications Board developed its international scheme, I focused on delivering courses, teaching at all levels from Foundation to Advanced, across the world. 

The CTFL is now at version 4.0, with a good emphasis on Agile ways of working, demonstrating the ISTQB's commitment to keeping its qualifications relevant, which I value.

Is the ISTQB Foundation exam included in the course price?

Yes. Pinta Education's public course includes the ISTQB CTFL examination, as well as practice tests and access to the exam simulator provided by the exam board. If you are currently unemployed and actively seeking work, I offer 2 discounted places per course. Contact me for more information.

Is the course online?

Yes. My public courses are delivered live online via Zoom, with a maximum of eight delegates, so that everyone has the opportunity to participate, ask questions and be heard. You speak - I listen, actively. 

Who is the ISTQB Foundation course for?

It is suitable for anyone interested in gaining a structured understanding of testing, and an internationally recognised qualification. It must be said though, the exam is not for the faint-hearted, so we find that mostly dedicated software test professionals will sit it. It is worth you perusing the syllabus, or contacting me, so you can make an informed choice, before giving up your time, and budget.

Do I need software testing experience to sit the course?

No. CTFL is the Foundation Level qualification and has no formal prerequisite certification. Previous experience can help, but I teach with no expectations of any prior knowledge from you. I also do not expect you to do pre-course reading. I cannot assume that everyone will have had the time to do it, and I do not leave people behind in class - it will be a team effort. However, there will be a significant amount of exam prep during and after the course if you are to attempt the exam with confidence.

What will I learn on your ISTQB Foundation course?

You will learn the fundamental principles of software testing, testing throughout the software development lifecycle, static testing, test analysis and design techniques, managing test activities, and the effective use of tools. Well, that's the syllabus; how I illustrate it will depend on you - I teach people, not materials.

Does the course only prepare me for the ISTQB exam?

No. The materials prepare you for the exam; class discussions aim to help you feel confident back at work. I spend time understanding your world so that you can participate as much as you feel able to. In my class there is no such thing as a silly question because I have often wondered: without that silly question, would penicillin have been discovered?
